Company Profile Hondas commitment to creating products that improve the quality of peoples lives goes well beyond automobiles and motorcycles. Since 1953, Honda has manufactured over 40 million power products worldwide and continues as a leader in the development of low-emission, fuel efficient, environmentally friendly 4-stroke engines for use in outboard motors, generators, water pumps, lawn mowers and many other power equipment applications. This leadership in power equipment design and engineering was clearly evidenced by Hondas commitment to have most of its worldwide general purpose engines meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencys 2006 emission levels by late 2001. In 1973 Honda introduced Honda Generators, Tillers and Outboards into the U.S. Market. Water Pumps were added to the Power Equipment lineup in 1975, followed by Lawn Mowers in 1979. Four years later, Honda Snowblowers were added to the product lineup. That same year, Honda Power Equipment Mfg., Inc., in Swepsonville, North Carolina was completed. Honda Power Equipment Mfg., Inc. (HPE) has boosted its general purpose engine production to 1,000,000 engines per year (a significant increase from the 300,000 engines per year produced three years ago) for use by Honda and other OEMs. In 2004, Honda expanded its Swepsonville, N.C. factory and increased production capacity to 1.5 million engines per year. HPE also produces engines, lawnmowers and other products using domestic and globally-sourced parts. In 1999, American Honda Motors Co., Inc. invested more than $6 million in its new Power Equipment Division headquarters in Alpharetta, GA., which oversees sales, distribution, marketing and exportation of Honda power equipment products. Hondas unwavering reliability, quality, durability and environmentally conscious efficiency cant be beat. Hondas power in this market is an undeniable force.
